Here in Georgia, Spring is in the air! We kicked off the season with a week of Spring activities, if you haven't grabbed those weekly plans, you can do so HERE. Now on to our week of Pond Life activities. Our focus this week was on ducks, turtles and frogs. We ended our week with a visit to a local pond where we got to feed some ducks!

He helped to make this snack by mixing together blue food coloring and yogurt. Next, we spread that on to a club cracker and we added green grapes as the seaweed and he placed some goldfish on.
I cut a triangle shape out of a rice cake and spread yogurt mixed with green food coloring on it.

GROSS MOTOR ACTIVITIES
I made lily pads out of green construction paper and wrote one letter in his name on each. I used painters tape to stick to the ground and as I called out a letter he had to hop to each one. He hopped, jumped and crawled to them!
I found these colored ducks online (link in plans below) and hid them around our house. He had to find the ducks and then sort by color. To set up the sorting sheet, I glued one duck to the top of blue construction paper and then he had to sort the ducks into the correct column.
I made a start and a finish line with painters tape and he had to crawl like a turtle to each one. At first I used a large couch pillow and that was a little hard for him to balance, so I grabbed his toddler pillow and that worked a little better. He was still able to move and balance at the same time.
FINE MOTOR & ART ACTIVITIES
He painted a paper plate green. Once it dried he added little squares of green tissue paper, legs, arms and a head.
He painted a paper plate green and when it dried I folded it in half. He added cotton balls for eyes (I drew a little black dot in the middle of each one), and a curled red construction paper tongue. Ribbit! Ribbit!
I used the green ziti we made during our St. Patrick's Day week and added these adorable letter frogs I found online. I reused the lily pads from our gross motor activity (Lily Pad Hop) and he used his tweezers to match the letters. As he was sorting he made a cute ribbit sound as each frog "hopped" to their lily pad.
SENSORY PLAY & ART ACTIVITIES
He used his hands and fingers to paint a paper plate blue and green. Once it dried he glued on green construction paper lily pads and I made a flower out of a cupcake liner. After he was done, he ran and grabbed one of his toy frogs and was playing on his homemade lily pad!
I filled a bin with blue water and added some rubber ducks (found at the DOLLAR STORE!! Woo Hoo!). We sang the song, 5 Little Ducks a few times and he acted it out. We also got in some positional word practice like, "over" and "out."
He helped to paint his hand yellow so that he could make a handprint on white card stock. Once that dried, I cut it out and he added a few yellow feathers, googly eyes, a beak and accordion legs. Finally, we added a popsicle stick to the back to make it into a puppet.
THEMED SNACKS
I thinly sliced an apple and placed it on the plate. Then I halved a few green grapes and added those as the arms, legs, tail and shell. I used a whole grape for the head and cut a raisin in half for the eyes.
